Their Words

Justin Ryan is a professional writer and reporter who Linux Journal was fortunate enough to pick up a couple of years ago. We brought him on as news editor, a job which in the past writers for us had had mediocre results with — lets face it, tech news can be a bit dry. Justin managed to reinvent the column for us, making our news section one of the most highly read in Linux Journal.

He promotes his Linux Journal work extensively, constantly bringing us more eyeballs. Even more impressively perhaps is Justin’s regular interaction with his Linux Journal readers. They just love him — we joke about “Justin’s fans” in the office but really it’s no joke. He has a very loyal following of fans and well, to be honest, I am one of them too.

Justin manages to inject exactly the right amount of emotion in to every piece he writes without ever making the article about him. It’s a journalistic skill many of us strive for but Justin nails every time. I think it’s that which makes readers feel so connected to his writings. I know as a publisher, it’s what hooked me.

As a busy virtual assistant, I don’t have time to wrestle with website issues. Whether it’s keeping an eye on security or straightening out an errant email signature, I know Justin will have a solution. I love having someone to send things to who makes sure everything just works.

Justin Ryan is a phenomenal resource to have. I have come to depend on him heavily for many different types of projects, from database backups and security on our websites, to all sorts of Wordpress coding, plugins and database help. I can’t say enough about how helpful and knowledgeable Justin is! He is always willing to help sort through any issue I’m having, even if I’m not sure what it is! And one of his best qualities is that he’s dependable. I know that if I hand a project over to him, he’ll finish it quickly and thoroughly – he’ll make sure the issue I’m having is resolved, and often fixes other problem in the process. The only reason I wouldn’t recommend Justin is so that I don’t have to share him!
